Day to Night Holiday Makeup

The start of the holiday season is here! Which is known to be the most wonderful time of the year but can also be stressful at the same time. Especially when you need to dash to a party right after work and rather not carry a giant tote bag of your makeup, right!

Above is a holiday makeup look that you can do quicker than you can say egg nog with just 3 small products in your purse.

How to Create the Look:

Before you leave home

  1. Apply a face primer to create a smooth canvass and keep your makeup in it’s place from day to night.

  2. Apply foundation, contour, highlight, and blush as you normally would.

  3. Prime your eyelids with an eyeshadow primer.

  4. Apply a base shadow on your lid in a light grey* tone or any color you feel suits you.

  5. Contour your crease with a deeper shade of grey* and blend to soften edges between your lid and at the outer corner of your eye.

  6. Apply a highlight shadow under the brow such as a shimmery white or beige and blend where it meets the crease.

  7. Finish your eye look with a coat of mascara.

  8. Lastly, lightly spray a finishing spray all over your face to set your makeup.

* If grey shadow isn’t your thing feel free to switch it up to whatever color you feel best suits you. Just keep in mind that the color you apply in the crease should be a bit darker than what you apply on your lid.

Products to Use:

Face Primer – Arbonne Makeup Primer

Foundation – Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation

Highlight & Contour - Arbonne Starlight Glow Palette

Blush - Arbonne Blush

Eye Primer - Arbonne Prime & Proper Eye Makeup Primer

Eyeshadow - Arbonne It's All In the Eyes Volume 2 Eye Shadow Palette

Mascara - Arbonne Speak Volumes Mascara

Setting Spray - Arbonne Let It Set Finishing Spray

How to Transition From Day to Night

  1. Gently blot (don’t rub) your face with blotting paper if your skin appears a bit shiny at the end of the day.

  2. Line your top and bottom lash line with a black gel like eyeliner pencil (not gel in a pot) and gently smudge with your finger or a smudge brush for a smoky effect.

  3. Strategically dot on that same black gel like eyeliner pencil at the outer corner of your eyelid and crease then gently smudge inwards, again for a smoky effect.

  4. Turn up the volume on your lashes with another coat of mascara. And comb with a metal lash comb to separate if needed.

  5. Lastly, finish your look with a nude or subtle lip gloss so that you don’t look too overdone.

Products to Use:

Eyeliner - Arbonne It's a Fine Line Pencil Eye Liner (Carbon)

Mascara - Arbonne Speak Volumes Mascara

Lip Gloss - Glossed Over Lip Gloss

Blotting Tissue - Boscia Blotting Papers

Can you believe fall is already here! Don’t you just love the gorgeous autumn colors, cozy sweater weather and pumpkin spiced everything.

Unfortunately though, it also means that colder weather is just around the corner. And much like your wardrobe, your skin care also needs to be switched out with the seasons.

Take a moment to assess how your skin has changed since the temperatures have dropped. Does it feel a little tighter and dry? Are you experiencing any acne breakouts? Is your eczema starting to act up again?

Fall is the best time to repair our skin from all the outdoor summer fun we had and the sooner you start the sooner you can glow on into the holiday season! Here’s How:

1. 💧STAY HYDRATED! We all know that we should probably be drinking more water and cutting back on the coffee; but how much is enough? According to most health experts the average woman should be having 2L of water a day. That’s a lot of bathroom breaks your probably thinking…lol But not all of it needs to be fluids! You can have fruits and vegetables with a high water content too! Such as cucumbers, broccoli, celery, strawberries, grapefruits and pears.

2. 🌡AVOID SUPER HOT SHOWERS - Hot water softens the natural oils in your skin and allows them to leech out, leaving you feeling dry and flaky. So if you can avoid having super hot showers or even just turn the temperature down slightly, your skin will thank you. Using a gentle moisturizing cleanser such as Arbonne’s Re9 Advanced Smoothing Facial Cleanser will help to replenish the skin’s moisture and deliver long term hydration.

3. 🛀EXFOLIATE - It's hard for your skin to absorb your moisturizer if it's shielded by a layer of dead skin, which is why exfoliating in fall/winter is so important. Using a light or gentle exfoliant like Arbonne’s RE9 Advanced Prepwork Cleansing Polish in the evening will ensure that all dead skin cells are removed so that your skin can effectively soak up the moisturizer you put on it.

4. 🍊ADD VITAMIN C* - Vitamin C is great at evening skin pigmentation and boost collagen production which results in a brighter complexion! Arbonne’s Re9 Advanced Intensive Renewal Serum does just that plus more! This super concentrated formula helps reduce the appearance of fine lines. Advanced peptides, antioxidants and essential botanicals work synergistically within the formula to hold in moisture and help enhance the look of skin smoothness and firmness. So good, your skin will never want to be without it. For real! This was the first Arbonne product I tried 4 years ago and have been hooked since.

⚠*WARNING: If you have eczema skip the vitamin C as it aggravates eczema and opt for a more gentle solution such as a serum that contains Aloe. Arbonne’s new Bio Hydria Serum is perfect for troubled sensitive skin.

5. 🥥MOSITURIZE – No matter what your skin type is moisturizer is essential to maintaining skin’s hydration. And when the temperature drops, switching to a heavier moisturizer is highly recommended to protect the skin against harsh environmental factors such as wind and cold dry air.

For daytime moisture try Arbonne’s Re9 Advanced Restorative Crème in Regular Moisture for humid climates like Vancouver or Extra Moisture in drier climates. And if your skin gets seriously starved of moisture Arbonne’s new Bio Hydria Serum pairs perfectly with the Re9 Advanced Collection. You can even apply it on top of the Re9 Advanced Serum before you moisturize.

🌙 At night sleep your way to beautiful skin by using a night crème. This will help your skin work better to repair the damage caused during the day and regenerate itself while you are sleeping. Try Arbonne’s Re9 Advanced Night Repair Crème. It’s formulated with an ultra-hydrating blend of botanicals, plus collagen supporting ingredients that replenish moisture and deliver essential nourishment to maximize the skin’s natural reparative cycle. Helps reduce the look of fine lines and deep wrinkles through moisturization — all while you sleep 😊

6. 🍎BE HEALTHY INSIDE & OUT – Beautiful skin starts from within. Healthy-looking skin isn’t an accident – it’s a result of understanding your skin type and creating a skincare and nutrition regimen to meet your needs. It’s about making the right choices with dietary habits and nutritional supplements for overall health inside and out.

Your body works as a system where every function is connected, and diet and nutrition play a large role in how you feel on the inside and how you look on the outside. If you’re not sure where to start I can help you personalize a regimen for healthy-looking, beautiful skin and overall wellness. This month’s Limited Edition Clean Swap box is the perfect chance to make a clean swap and update your fall skincare routine by trying out a few of Arbonne's skincare & nutrition bestsellers at a great price!

5 Tips for the Perfect Headshot

With the growing trend of social media acting as a resume for most, your first impression most likely is made online. Regardless of whether you are professional, own your own business, or applying for a job — It’s important to make a good first impression!

Here are 5 things you should do for the perfect headshot!

1. Plan

The goal of your headshot should be to put a face to your brand. With that said, think about how you would like to present yourself. What will you wear? How will you do your hair & makeup? Where will you have your photos taken? If outdoors, what season? An example would be a realtor who would most likely wear a suit and have a simple background as opposed to a creative type who would wear nice casual clothing and have a non-standard background.

2. Hire a Professional Photographer

Sorry, but a selfie just won’t cut it if you want to be taken seriously and gain your potential client’s trust. It will most likely make you look unprofessional instead of in a positive light. A professional photographer will capture fantastic images of you in a natural, relaxed yet engaged state. They know how to get you feeling comfortable in front of the camera and how to retouch an image to industry standards. I had mine done earlier this year by Julie Heather Photography and couldn’t be more pleased! It normally takes a lot to get a good picture out of me as I’m not photogenic and with her it was easy & effortless. If you’re in the Vancouver area, you definitely want to check her out!

3. Hire a Professional Makeup Artist & Hair Stylist

While it may be tempting to do your own make up to save money- the difference a professional makeup artist can make will justify the cost as the skill level of a professional makeup artist will promise that your make up will not only look amazing in the mirror but on camera as well! It’s also a bonus if they can do hair as well so that you can check both off your list at once.

4. Keep It Simple

Make sure the focus of your headshot is YOU! Basic makeup & hair, solid colored clothing (no wild patterns) and a plain backdrop make for the perfect shoot.

5. Budget

With all this in mind think about how much you are willing to spend? Do your research and find out the going rate in your area to hire a professional photographer and makeup artist. A lot of times you can find ones who collaborate and offer special rates like I have with Julie Heather Photography. Visit my website to inquire about rates.

The bottom line here is don’t compromise on quality, even if that means you need to save up for another month in order to afford professional headshots. If you’re serious about your business and about making a good impression then you must take your headshot seriously as well!
